Studies show people derive more meaning and lasting satisfaction from experiential gifts than from objects. Instead of adding to the clutter, consider giving theater or concert tickets, or a restaurant gift card. When you give a membership to a local museum or public garden, your gift does double duty by helping to sustain your favorite non-profit.
