Observe the “One in, one out” rule. If you buy something, remove another item from your home.

Treehugger.com writer Katerine Marinko offers some strategies for reducing the number of purchases that we make and thus reduce waste.  She describes the "One in, One out"rule as: "If you buy something, remove another item from your home. Do not shuffle it elsewhere, but make sure it leaves your property completely. This combats clutter and prevents that slow, invisible buildup."*
